March is Women's History Month*
And also Mothering Sunday on 19 March, which raises awareness and empowers women by discovering, documenting and celebrating women's lives and achievements, but on a slightly smaller scale! In actual fact, Mothering Sunday has its roots in a centuries-old tradition when children, mainly daughters, who had gone to work as servants were given this one day off to visit their mother and family.
There's a strong link between influential women and motherhood... in fact, when we asked everyone on the Initially London team to choose the one woman they most admire to celebrate on IWD, half of them chose their mother or grandmother. Check out our IWD blog post to read more about that.
If you're celebrating the remarkable women in your life next Sunday, or all month, may we suggest using monograms to commemorate them?
Monograms have been used for centuries as a luxurious way of making something unique and personal. Today, monogramming shows you went the extra mile to design a gift for someone special that is hers and hers alone.
Check out our Mother's Day Gift Edit for inspiration. Our product line is classic, well-made and timeless, with each item designed to wear any of our monograms well.
Of course we are delighted to monogram goods you purchase elsewhere. In fact, we LOVE demonstrating how a beautiful embroidered monogram lifts everything from a charity shop or bargain purchase to luxury goods and antique and vintage finds.
